Material honesty

Every piece states exactly what it is

German competition law treats a wrong leather description as a warnable offence, and we agree with the principle. So each product page names the hide, the layer and the tanning in plain words — full-grain, top-grain, split, recycled bonded fibre — and three items in this shop say clearly that they are not leather at all.

  • Split leather is called split leather. We never describe a second-layer hide as full-grain.
  • Chromium VI within REACH limits. Our tanneries certify to the 3 mg/kg limit of REACH Annex XVII and to the azo dye restrictions.
  • Livestock by-product hides only. No CITES-listed species, no exotic skins, no fur.
  • Water-repellent, never waterproof. Tanning agents can cause contact allergies in some people; we do not claim otherwise.
