What you are buying

Two straps joined by a brass junction plate, laid across the case in an X so pressure is spread across both axes rather than concentrated in one band around the middle.

Each arm adjusts independently from 700 to 1400 mm. On a large checked case this holds the lid shape as well as the closure.

Natural variation. Leather is a hide, not a printed sheet. Grain, tone, healed scars and insect marks vary from piece to piece and no two items are identical. Vegetable-tanned leather darkens with light and handling. None of this is a defect and none of it is grounds for us to reject a withdrawal within the statutory period.

Care

Wipe with a dry cloth. Treat two to three times a year with a colourless leather balm. Keep out of prolonged direct sun. Vegetable-tanned leather darkens with light and handling — this is expected and not a defect.
